The Lyons Falls Library is undergoing a building restoration project for our historic building. Deteriorating mortar has caused much damage to the exterior walls of the stone structure. The project is being funded in part by a New York State Library Construction Grant. Our matching funds have come from both businesses and from individuals in our community. We have received generous donations from The Dyson Foundation, Northern New York Community Foundation, Otis, and Community Bank, NA. Community members have made donations through various fund raising activities at the library and through personal donations.
The library hosted a series of programs this past winter to help raise funds for the restoration project. The classes included: Vintage Glass Garden Flowers, Acrylic Painting, Making a Fresh Flower Arrangement, and Crafting Greeting Cards. All were well attended. Let us know what you may be interested in for our next round of workshops by calling the library!
Thanks to all of you who turned out on Saturday, May 11th for our chicken bbq, and especially to the Lyons Falls Fire Department for hosting the event at the firehall and cooking all that chicken! It was a great success
We also would like to thank Snow Ridge for supporting the restoration project by donating part of the registration fees for those who ran in the Tug Mud Dare Run on May 18th at Snow Ridge! Go to https://www.tugmuddare.com/ to see more. A special thumbs up to our own Kristine Reid who participated in the
event! Great job Kris!
