Happy Holidays from the Lyons Falls Library!

From all of us here at the library - Happy Holidays!  Though this year is out of the norm for many, we are trying to keep things as festive as possible.  Share your holiday cheer with us!

We are accepting holiday ornaments made by the community to decorate our tree.  If your family would like to participate, drop off your ornament during library hours or place in the book drop.  We have Christmas themed bookmarks you can bring home with you, and plenty of stockings with treats and goodies for the kids.  Kids can take home a stocking and free book to keep now through December 23rd, while supplies last!

Santa Claus will be touring the streets of Lyons Falls by firetruck on Sunday, December 13th beginning at 2PM.  Children can meet Santa for a gift and a hello on their front lawn wearing a mask and social distancing from their neighbors.  Santa's elves will be handing out optional covered hot cocoa and individual bags of cookies to be enjoyed in your own home.  Listen for the the firetruck horn when it comes to your street!

Join us from home for a Christmas themed story, read by local volunteer and retired teacher Linda Higby, on Saturday, December 19th at 10:15AM!  This live storytime event is being streamed with permission from Penguin Random House through Facebook Live and is the first of what we hope will be many more at home participation events!  You can RSVP and see more event details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/2123104361157930/

The library will be closed Thursday, December 24th, Friday, December 25th, Thursday, December 31st, and Friday, January 1st.  Curbside pick up and assistance with catalog browsing are available by phone during regular hours for your convenience, just call 348-6180, and the library is open for in person visits at limited capacity.  Stay safe and well this holiday season, and thank you for your support!  We hope to see you take part in any or all of our year end activities.  Here's to a brighter tomorrow!  Season's greetings and Merry Christmas!

Library Hours are Back to Normal!

We are happy to announce that the library is once again open 5 days a week!  Please visit us between 3pm and 7pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, between 1pm and 5pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and between 8am and noon on Saturdays.  The library is closed Sundays and Mondays, but the book drop is always available for returns and you may access the Wi-Fi from our parking lot 24/7, no password needed.

We do require face masks to be worn and that patrons observe social distancing.  Please keep in mind that we are only able to operate at limited capacity, and in the instance of too many patrons at once, we will use a first come, first served principle.  Without using the community room, our maximum capacity at this time is ten guests and one librarian. These rules are in place due to Executive Orders by New York State, and may change at any time.

Two of our four computer stations are available for use, as well as the regular print and copy services. We also have six work stations set up with one chair per table, six feet or more away from other work stations.  Patrons are able to browse the shelves, with the condition that any materials they touch, but do not take home, are placed in the browsed book boxes to be put into quarantine for 72 hours by the librarian.  Our children's corner and makerspace is currently closed, and those hands-on materials are currently unavailable for use.  Hand sanitizer is available in multiple locations throughout the library.  Work and computer stations must be signed out with the librarian prior to use and are sanitized immediately on the patron's departure from the station.  Curbside pickup of materials is available for patrons that do not wish to enter the building.  Please call with your requests during regular hours (315-348-6180) or submit online through NCLS (link at the bottom of the page).  Stay safe and we hope to see or hear from you soon!
